A television show on ABC’s drawing boards threatens to bash Christian women, not only in the dramedy content, but in the title itself. The title, “Good Christian B_ _ _ _ _ _ _” (rhymes with “witches”) causes many to cringe, and one can’t help wonder if the FCC will intervene.
The show centers around a former prodigal woman returning to her hometown of Dallas, enduring the scrutiny and wagging tongues of a brood of Christian women.
ABC has guaranteed the pilot a spot in the fall-line up, and though the show has yet to be broadcast on prime time, a host of voices are clamoring, crying foul over the colorful choice of words chosen to define the women portraying certain Christian females in the show.
Christian publisher Tessie Devore finds the title offensive, saying, “I don’t think those two words should be combined.” She fears such a title sheds a poor light on Christianity. Taking jabs at Christians continues to be a favorite pastime of the Hollywood liberals and seldom do movie and television producers take the voice of Christians seriously. Instead, they gladly propagate New Age ideals and environmental hogwash all while promoting gratuitous sex, violence, and promoting the homosexual agenda. And though the Church feigns indignation at such immorality on both the big and small screens, even those claiming the label “Christian” fork over money to watch such entertainment, while A-listers laugh all the way to the bank. If Christians desire family friendly presentations, then those productions deserve support.
Several years ago, Sherwood pictures produced quality films, including “Facing the Giants.” And now, another Christian themed movie graces theaters across America. “The Grace Card” promotes the biblical themes of love, forgiveness and grace without tossing in profanity, sex, or violence. And though tagged with a PG-13 label, moms and dads can feel comfortable taking older preteens along.
Teaching a powerful message that our Country desperately needs, “The Grace Card” warrants the financial support of Christians so that a powerful grace movement can continue to flood across America. Instead of supporting the myriad choices of filth, pack up car loads of people and support the media ministry of those promoting the Christian faith.
